Elton Brand has missed the last five games with a sore calf and coach Rick Carlisle told reporters this morning that the 6-8 center/forward is making progress. It’s possible, but not certain, that Brand could get back to game action against the Denver Nuggets tonight. The Mavericks are out of the playoff race, but they have said they remain on a mission to finish with a winning record. At 38-40, that would require running the table in the final four games. Brand most certainly would help that cause against the Nuggets, who remain one of the West’s best even though they have lost Danilo Gallinari for the season with a knee injury suffered last week against the Mavericks in Denver.
